Cuts in Funding Impact Our Community
The federal deficit and California’s budget crisis has lead to a huge demand in CCCIL’s services. One in five people have a disability and as the population grows older, this number will increase. As organizations are impacted by the shortage of funding available to the community, CCCIL has seen an influx of consumers seeking those services no longer being provided by other organizations. Rising health care and housing costs affect us all but particularly low income people with disabilities. Now, more than ever funding is needed to support our community.
A Donation to CCCIL is a Contribution to the Community
CCCIL is the only organization on the central coast that provides services to people with all forms of disability. CCCIL has a constant need for donations to support our programs and services that are provided free of charge to low income consumers with disabilities.
Your donation to CCCIL is a contribution to the community. It sustains existing programs and increases our program capacity. It allows us to continue to meet the unmet needs of the community.
Here are just a few examples of what your funding will support:
- Assistive Technology services that provide information on devices that help people with disabilities live independently.
- New Options Program that brings TBI survivors, their families and friends, and service providers together through trainings, short courses, discussions, and regular survivor support groups.
- Youth Transitional Project that provides resources to youth with disabilities transitioning after high school to employment or secondary education.
- Disability Awareness Presentations to businesses, schools and community groups.
- Women with Disabilities Health Summit that educates the community on important healthcare issues.
- Accessibility inspections at election polling places that ensure people with disabilities have the opportunity to vote.
- Advocacy Action Network that provides crucial legislative and policy information that affects people with disabilities.
- Multi-cultural events that educate Latinos with disabilities with a special focus reaching agricultural workers.
